In the Waiting
Seeking knowledge and wisdom in the in-between
I may have been called a pessimist on more than one occasion, and more times than I can count I’ve responded with, “optimists are rarely surprised”. This has been my motto for much of my life, though I would consider myself a realist rather than a pessimist.
At the start of my career, the world was filled with possibilities—each interview brought with it a pang of nerves and excitement. After years of being ghosted by potential employers or receiving the standard, we are pursuing other candidates, mustering the energy to even apply for new positions became an issue.
My career background reflected a mod podge of seemingly unrelated experiences. I prayed and begged God to provide the next right role, and instead of leading me toward full-time ministry as I had hoped, He opened the doors to a journey I never expected.
In 2018 I took a leap of faith and left my full-time events-heavy role with a regional technology council and opted to try my hand at freelance marketing while I applied for more marketing and ministry-focused positions. Again, the world had unlimited potential and my optimism and excitement overflowed. That is until I was once again met with rejection.
