Into the Wholeness of Your Love

A poem of loss and grief, for my friend

My heart breaks with news unfathomable
The words bang like a gong in my ears
“My granddaughter passed away today”
They lay open our hearts worst fears

No longer the body so tiny and wee
Wiggling and wobbling to turn her face to You
She knew You, her soul too young to wander
She’s now in heaven with the other chosen few

But her Mom and her Oma weep heavy tears
For a life they will miss and for smiles unseen
A heart of grief yearns only for what’s lost
Holding loosely now to what may have been

You have her now Lord, please hold her close
Rock her as Mom would and kiss her fair cheek
Bind Mom’s heart with Your heart, and Oma’s too
As their future now seems lonesome and bleak

With heavy hearts, we surrender to You
For Your will be done in heaven and earth
Your way, not our way, Your word clearly states
Praising Your name, for there lies our worth

You hold our hearts ransom, waiting until
We meet our loved ones in Heaven one day
As they wait for us to complete our race
Knowing they’ve already passed that way

For my friend Kimberley, her daughter Kristen, and Kristen’s baby girl Talia who entered Heaven yesterday. I pray God’s love and mercy will fill your burdened hearts as you move through your grief into the wholeness of His love. Rest in peace baby girl.
