I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. (John 16:33, NIV)

Raising a large family, I quite often found myself being the peacemaker. With squabbles, hurt feelings, tantrums, and rejections, someone needed to be the glue that held us together and the peace that calmed the storms.

As my children grew and left the nest, I learned a lesson that being the peacemaker to adults and putting myself in the middle, often made me the enemy. I can’t force camaraderie between my children.

In these moments, I find solace in the fact that the ultimate peacemaker is Jesus.

Are you a peacemaker? The Bible says:

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. (Matthew 5:9, NIV)

However, when we preach forgiveness, love, patience, and kindness to no avail, our peace may be in jeopardy. Leaving it in the Lord’s hands will restore tranquility.

His peace, which passes all understanding, happens in the heart.

Prayer:

Dearest Prince of Peace, Help me to trust that in the end, all will be well. Amen.
