Just a Minute Devotional #33
Thoughts on optimism
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in the house of God; I trust in God’s unfailing love for ever and ever. (Psalms 52:8, NIV)
Christians should have a positive, cheerful, hopeful, and assured attitude. Even with trials and tribulations, there should always be an underlying joy, maybe not happiness, but joy.
The opulent graces of God in us will equip us for our battle with Satan trying to steal our contentment.
Psalms tells us about God. He is our:
- helper
- fortress
- stronghold in the day of trouble
- deliverer
- leader
- light
- salvation.
The New Testament tells us that the Holy Spirit gives us:
- boldness
- confidence
- adequacy
- joy
- peace
- powerfulness
- wisdom
Jesus graces us:
- love
- forgiveness
- redemption
- understanding
- truth
The list goes on and on. There are over 70 scriptures that lead us to have an optimistic attitude. God created man from His magnificent glory. It spilled out of Him into us. We are a reflection of His glory, which should be enough to make us laugh in delight of Him.
Are trials and tribulations hijacking your optimism?
Are you a flourishing tree in the house of God, or a dying plant out in the desert? Are you standing in a cesspool of pain?
Go to the Bible to see all the reasons you can still have joy.
Never let Satan rob you of your rightful ownership of hope.
For what you have done I will always praise you in the presence of your faithful people. And I will hope in your name, for your name is good. (Psalm 52:9, NIV)
