Just a Minute Devotional #43
A relationship where we embrace the mystery
But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen. (2 Peter 3:18, NIV)
The day we commit ourselves to a relationship with Jesus, we become one with Him. Like a marriage, our vow to Christ may be in various ways.
The relationship does not end with the vow. It’s a day-by-day burning desire to gain Godly wisdom. We should strive to deepen our understanding of Him, knowing Him more today than we did yesterday.
Can you fathom the mysteries of God? Can you probe the limits of the Almighty? (Job 11:7, NIV)
Do we understand that as we probe and study, we will never fully fathom the mystery of God? We need not become so engrossed in solving this mystery that we ignore the heart of Christ. We miss the mark if we gain wisdom but lack compassion, love, gentleness, humility, patience, or kindness.
Learning beautiful new things about God is spiritually healthy, but becoming anxious to solve His mystery is not. Our walk will be bright and easy with a peaceful attitude as we grow to trust an unfathomable God and embrace His mystery.
There is a healthy balance in life: gain wisdom but trust in a mystery that need not be fully solved.
Prayer:
Dear Christ, Help me to grow in Your wisdom every day, and help me to trust even when I don’t fully understand. Amen
