David knew who he was

He also knew whose he was

When others quaked and feared

He stepped out with boldness

Speaking great words of faith

He faced the adversary

With confidence, he attacked

The fearsome enemy fell

And victory was claimed.

Jesus had to face the devil

At a time when the flesh was weak.

To seek help outside of God

He was tempted to doubt who He was

To prove that He was who He was.

But Jesus knew who He was

He knew whose He was too.

He did not need to show

That His Father was faithful

Or to submit His authority.

He knew the Word

He spoke the Word

And the devil fled.

When faced by the enemy

Who tries to make you doubt,

To question God’s faithfulness.

So, there’s a delay,

And the storms are raging all around

Buffeted on all sides

Your strength is ebbing

Everywhere seems so dark

Seems that all hope is lost

No point in going on, you think.

But just like David,

Try to remember

His help in times past

He saved you. He delivered you.

He can and will do it again.

Do not take your eyes away

Keep them fixed on the Master

So you don’t go down in the waves, like Peter.

And even when you find yourself sinking,

Simply cry out and He will lift you up.

Put His Words in your heart

Store them like precious treasures

Think on them always and

Whenever you need them

They will come forth from the deep places

To help you hold on and then overcome.

Let His Words be on your lips at all times

Speak it with boldness

To that situation.

The Word on your lips is powerful

The enemy knows this

He even tries harder to make you stop.

Never quit speaking it

His Word always prevails only if you persist.

You are His treasured possession

Never let the enemy make you doubt this

God desires that you know Him more

Walk with Him continually

Trust in His love for you

And face the adversary boldly, knowing whose you are.
