As I sit here, reflecting on the topic of love, I am overcome with a tidal wave of emotions. Love, in all its complexities, has the power to evoke an array of feelings in us — attraction, joy, heartbreak, pain, and everything in between.

For some, love is a welcomed presence in their lives, something to be cherished and nurtured. For others, it’s a scary notion, one to be avoided at all costs. Even in the fast-paced world of corporate America, where love is often considered taboo, love remains a constant presence, a universal need.

Love is a funny thing, can be as beautiful as a love song that brings a smile to your face or as heartbreaking as a love song sung by a boy band whose lead singer is fresh from his 30th break-up.

Love, like anything else in life, is a stewardship.

It’s something we need to invest in and care for, not just because it’s important but because it’s the passion to manage.

We can learn to steward our finances, relationships, health, and family, but when it comes to love, that’s a whole different ball game. It’s not about holding back and being cautious but about giving freely and investing deeply in the people God has placed in our lives.

Think of love as an investment, not just any investment, but one with limitless rewards and risks that have already been paid for. That investment is heaven, and the mutual fund manager is God. The problem is, we don’t invest in heaven. invest in people, our own insecurities, and the things of this world, and end up losing our investments.

Like an investment broker, we can become careless about where we put our love and end up losing the purity of our love. We risk our hearts, our purpose, and our love for things that are temporary and end up with nothing to show for it.

So, what can we do today? We need to assess what is distracting us from loving unconditionally, our friends, family, and most importantly, God.

Our relationships with others should work as rays of sunshine coming from the Sun that is Jesus.

Love is not for the weak or the simple-minded. is a constant battle that we cannot fight on our own. To steward something this valuable takes overcoming conflict, distractions, and even our own pride.

The only way to win this war is to reside in the heart of God, to trust Him with our love, and to fight the battle with humility.

With pride, we will lose every time, but with humility, every battle is won.
