He had me at flowers.

My husband called me this Friday and said, “I’m in [the small town just down the road from us] and there’s a lady selling a lot of plants here. Do you need any?”

That was gift #1. He thought of me when he saw a new plant vendor. He’s had a lot on his mind, lately, but I’m among the things he thinks of. ❤️

We both ticked off all the plants in the veggie garden and could think of nothing we truly wanted or needed to add. We went over all the herbs I’d hoped to add to the new hot garden, and really, I have it about where I want it to be for this year until I finish the terracing.

Then he said, “She’s also got a lot of flowers.”

Oh. He had me at flowers.

I named a few that many folks do not know or sell, such as coreopsis and lantana, and she had both. And he brought me both in about 15 minutes. Gift #1.5 is that I’ve got to go there myself, and soon. I mean: A brand new plant vendor who has lesser-known offerings deserves a visit!

The lantana he picked out is exactly the variety pictured above: a delightful combo of pink and pale yellow. I love it and made sure to exclaim over it aplenty. Can’t believe his taste, y’all! He loves math, of all things, but he knows me. 😊
