Finding your place in God’s plan

Doing what you are good at might not be the best plan for a fulfilling life.

When I lost my job in 2017, I was at the top of my game, career-wise. I knew my work, I was good at it, and I had been with the company long enough to understand how to support the mission.

I decided to jump into the online world and start a blog. I had no idea what it took to create a website and make it functional enough to be found in a Google search.

In those early days of writing online, I felt like a Kindergartener. Even baby steps felt hard. I wanted my learning to accelerate faster. I wanted to be an expert overnight and replace my salary with income earned from writing. (stop chuckling)

It would have been much easier to return to the workforce, where I knew how to succeed. Eventually, I did because opportunities kept presenting themselves, which seemed too obvious to ignore.

I talked myself into returning to what came easily and abandoned my dream of an online business and financial freedom.

It stung me to give up on the things I had invested much time and passion in, and I wanted to obey God’s call, so I kept writing here. That was my compromise to God, even though I had a sinking feeling I was…
