Scripture Prompt
People Get Ready: The Faith Train’s Coming
Because of our faith, our hopes are tangible
So the whole book of Hebrews is written to give foundation to the hope that is the foundation of a life of radical, risk-taking, sacrificial love. John Piper, 1997
What Is Faith?
1 Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it.
2 Faith is the reason we remember great people who lived in the past.
3 It is by faith we understand that the whole world was made by God’s command so what we see was made by something that cannot be seen. (Scripture Prompt — Hebrews 11:1–3, NCV)
Because of faith, our hopes are substantive and meaningful; they have form and weight. They’re not wisps of intangible dreams. Faith grounds us so we can bravely move into the future, regardless of whether we see what’s behind every door. We seldom can see or know it all.
My pastor often talks about, “putting my little hand into His big hand,” to illustrate a child-like, trusting faith. It’s simple, maybe a bit dumbed-down, but it’s an easy concept to grasp every morning I wake up and wonder what my caregiving day might bring.
He’s. Got. This. And…He’s. Got. Me.
