After they shared that last Passover meal,
Our Lord and His disciples crossed the Kidron brook ,
made their way to the Mount of Olives,
to a garden there to pray
Events were moving quickly now,
in accordance with God’s plan.
The Venn diagram of earth and heaven was finally being drawn.
Eternity and time were one that night in Gethsemane,
as the Day of Days drew nearer,
the Day that God decreed,
written down, and set in stone before the world began.

In the eternal Now of His own being
He always had The Plan.
Knew we humans would disobey
and knew what must be done;
Before He laid the world’s foundation
He gave His only Son.

It was decreed from eternity
but had not yet entered time.
Nor would it ever happen
if the Messiah just refused
to play His part in our salvation
and leave us damned forever more.
