Some Thoughts on Prayer

But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you. (Matthew 6:6 NLT)

He sees everything — all of our actions, all of our thoughts, even all of our deeply-hidden desires. Nothing can be kept secret from our Father in Heaven, and not a single need goes unnoticed.

Prayer doesn’t have to be a session of show-and-tell. Instead, prayer should be our own private conversation with the Lord. I like to think of it as pillow talk shared with my closest friend, first love, Father.

Sometimes asking other people to pray for us is difficult. We are afraid to reveal our needs and weaknesses. It’s okay. When this happens just make a simple request. ‘Pray for me, please.’ It’s not necessary to always give the reason or the details of your situation. Your Father knows.

Anytime a fellow believer speaks your name in prayer, the Lord hears and responds. This is also true when you speak the names of all the people on your prayer list. God is listening and acting, turning all things to good for those who love Him (Romans 8:28).
