But all of you that can serve in our army must pick up your weapons and lead the men of the other tribes across the Jordan River. They are your relatives, so you must help them conquer the land that the Lord is giving them. The Lord will give peace to them as he has given peace to you, and then you can come back and settle here in the land that Moses promised you. (Joshua 1:14–15 CEV)

God commanded the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh to join their fellow Israelites in battle, ensuring that their brethren also received the rest and inheritance God had promised. Only after this could they return to enjoy the rest already granted to them.

This message challenges those of us who have already received God’s rest: Are we standing with our brethren, fighting for them until they too find their rest?

Stand in the place of prayer and, when necessary, take action. Fight until every one of your brethren are healed, delivered, and thriving, with their enemies defeated and the blessings God has planned for them are fully possessed.
