When do you stop to understand?

In Genesis (Chapters 1–2), we learn God made man and woman in His image. But sin entered the Garden (Genesis 3:6–7) and humankind’s perfect connection to Him was severed.

And since then, believers have wrestled with their image of the Lord. We try to remake Him to be like us, to think like us. We’re such simple creatures, honestly. The creator of the universe transcends our limited imaginations.

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. (Isaiah 40:28, NIV)

Through our prayer and meditation, He reveals His will for us. He pulls open the blinds to give us a peek, knowing what we can process and understand in that moment of our lives. A mere glimpse of the future is all we can endure, and He knows that.

But we’re impatient. We want what we want, when we want it. But God has His plans. Better ones than we could ever dream up.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. (Isaiah 55:8, NIV)
