I’ve always owned a Bible and I know verses and stories from it thanks to Sunday School and AWANA. However, I never took the time to read it myself and didn’t really know how.

I purchased a few “read through the bible in a year” books, but I don’t think that’s possible for me. I like to delve deep into stories and think about their meaning. Reading the entire Bible in a year would result in a surface-level understanding.

I wanted more!

Without really knowing where to start, I began with a chapter from Genesis, a chapter from Psalms, and a chapter from Matthew.

As I read, I would think about the passage I was reading and how it related to me. Then I would read a commentary by David Guzik on the Blue Letter Bible website to get more insight. Finally, I would take notes on what I thought was important.

I still felt like I was missing something.

Then, I listened to an episode from the Candace Cameron Bure podcast. In this episode, Candace talks about how guest speaker, Tara-Leigh Cobble, changed the way she (Candace) started reading the Bible.
