For twenty years, I’ve wanted to write a book called So Walk in Him, based on Colossians 2:6–10, teaching women how to walk in grace and understand their identity in Christ. I now realize that grace is only part of the story but is essential to understanding our identities as defined and given by God.

As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.

Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. (Colossians 2:6–10, NKJV)

For years, I was bombarded with messages from narcissistic leaders, legalistic Christians, and misogynistic pastors telling me who they thought I was. All of this empty deceit left me unable to walk in grace lest I disappoint someone or lead them to find fault with me.
