If you want to know the how and why of something, go back to the beginning.

Genesis describes the crafty manipulations of the serpent that started the downward spiral of sin, but what strikes me more is the serpent’s constant influence in our lives. We have an instruction manual for how to combat temptation and yet we keep falling for the same tactics thinking this time it will work, we’ll be ok.

Ecclesiastes is right on with the repeated refrain that there is nothing new under the sun.

Throughout our culture, Christians are portrayed quite unflatteringly. Seems like any television series or movie promotes the same old tropes to make Christians look like lunatics, partial people, or wrong about everything. The point is that our culture supports the tactics of the serpent and it’s our responsibility to know the manual.

Does God actually say

This one is easy to fall for when you don’t know your Bible.

How many times do you hear verses used out of context? How many times have you heard full sermons preached about one thing or another with no clue about their veracity? Will you know if what you’re hearing is biblically accurate?
