Touched by Jesus…

Reading the four gospels, you discover a host of takeaways. But one essence I’ve seized upon this year is that when seeing the brokenness of the world, Jesus moved toward it, not away from it.

Where the Old Testament literally glows radioactive with rules, the gospels illuminate how Jesus touched sinners’ hearts and hands.

Someone might touch human uncleanness — anything that makes someone unclean — and not know it. But when he learns about it, he will be guilty. (Leviticus 5:3, NCV)

Jesus turned that old system on its head. He came to fulfill the law (Matthew 5:17). No wonder religious leaders plotted against Him. He was nuclear, a serious threat to their power.

Christ is love covered in flesh. ~Thomas Goodwin

Can you “be Jesus” to someone today? A hug or a loving smile. A compliment. A prayer.
