They knew God, but they did not give glory to God or thank him. Their thinking became useless. Their foolish minds were filled with darkness. (Romans 1:21, NCV)

The idea of thankfulness appears over 100 times in the Old Testament and over 70 in the New Testament.

Being grateful is a conscious choice. In a world filled with plenty, there’s so much to pause our thanks, making us want something more. Eve strolled amongst the trees every evening with God. With God!

The serpent taunted her with one thing God had warned about. She had everything, but greed outweighed gratitude. She and Adam fell. The rest is history.

Our fall is always first a failure to give thanks. ~Ann Voskamp, One Thousand Gifts Devotional

Pray

Forgive me, Father, for failing to thank you every moment I draw breath. Amen.
