Have you ever seen the movie version of the musical Oliver, based on Charles Dickens’ classic 1838 novel, Oliver Twist?

Are you still with me? OK — let’s continue…
There’s a famous scene where Oliver was encouraged to approach the orphanage beadle, holding his empty bowl in outstretched arms, and uttering the immortal line:

In John’s Gospel, after Jesus had fed the crowd from five loaves and two fish, he slips away to the other side of Lake Galilee — only to be hunted down by the crowds.
When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, Rabbi, when did you get here? Jesus answered, Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed, but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. (John 6.25–26, NIV)
He miraculously fed them with bread and their response was: Please, sir, I want some more?
They were searching for Jesus. Why? Because He’d given them a free lunch.
