It has been amazing to read the laws that God laid out for His people. He detailed everything, there is little room for question or misunderstanding.

Why do we have these laws or rules today, things are so much different? Why would He include these in the scriptures, He knows the beginning from the end, the evolution of hygiene was not unknown to Him? I believe that it is partly because He wants us to know He knows every detail, He is interested in every single detail, nothing is hidden from Him.

Although the principles set before us are important to heed, also it shows us that God is connected to every area of our lives and is intrinsically enthusiastically and intimately entwined into our being. He cares that much.

No matter how small a matter or even how routine the matter He is still right there listening. He doesn’t do the uh-huh, yah, ok, thing when we bring things to Him. He doesn’t zone out somewhere else. He doesn’t say oh brother here she comes again. He awaits, ears and heart tuned to His children, His beloved.

Why did Mom say wash your hands before you eat? She cares for you and wants the best for you, even though as children sometimes we would think awe mom.

God gave the list of rules and laws so that His people would not become defiled. The other thing that strikes me is that He wants things dealt with immediately, don’t leave it. That could be a whole new blog post. Let us suffice to say keep short accounts.

The laborious, hyper detail of the law I believe is to show us His ways first of all. But entwined amid all the detail is His Love, maybe not even recognized within the comprehensive list of sacrifices and ceremonial cleansing, etc. Even the fact that He made a way for a poor person. He made a special offering so that they could participate in, and come before the Lord and receive His favor, forgiveness, and fellowship.

What a loving God. What an amazing Saviour.
