The often forgotten contributions to the kingdom of God

In this series, we look at the understated heroines of faith in the Bible. There are many of them. Unfortunately, far too often, we overlook them and their impact on the kingdom of God. In my eyes, Priscilla is one of those under-the-radar believers.

Her name is mentioned several times in the New Testament, but we learn very little about her. Reason enough to take a closer look and honor her merits for the kingdom of God.

Priscilla and Aquila

Priscilla is mentioned a total of six times in the Bible, with her being referred to as Prisca in the letter to Timothy. Paul mentions her and her husband in three different letters (Romans 16:3; 1 Corinthians 16:19; 2 Timothy 4:19), which shows the influence and importance the couple had on him and the church at that time.

The other mentions of Priscilla are found in the book of Acts and give us a little insight into the background and character of this woman.

After these things Paul departed from Athens, and came to Corinth; And found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla; (because that Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came…
