Welcome to 2024 Koinos Community!

Hello Koinos community and welcome to 2024 which I think is going to be an incredible year for Koinos. Up until now we’ve really been focused on foundational work and while there’s still work to be done there, we believe that Koinos is now positioned to be the BEST blockchain for developers in the world.

Now we’re not there yet, but the free-to-use Mana system already gives Koinos the best user experience in the world. And with TypeScript smart contracts, KoinosPro, and our amazing community, Koinos is already a pretty great place for developers so if we can all work together I sincerely believe that by the end of 2024 in addition to being the blockchain with the best user experience, Koinos can also have the best developer experience in the world.

This is a really meaningful milestone for me personally because from the moment Bitcoin was released I was blown away by the potential of the underlying blockchain technology to allow for a free market of financial systems, but I was also disappointed by how technically difficult it was to actually build on. That’s why I was initially so excited about Ethereum, but ultimately building on blockchain remained accessible only to really elite and well funded software engineers. Which is why we decided build Koinos. Finally being in a place where we can see a path to having the best developer experience in the world is incredibly validating.

But how do we get there? A singular focus from everyone in the community on this objective.

We need to be zealous and hold each other accountable about being developer obsessed.

Of course that doesn’t mean ignoring marketing or exchange relations, and we’re so excited that there are now community groups pursuing these objectives and why Koinos Group will be supporting those organizations however we can. Marketing is important because developers need to learn that Koinos exists in order to use it and exchanges are important because a big part of what makes blockchain applications so valuable for developers is easy access to markets. All of this stuff is connected, but it should all be in service of the common objective of delivering the best blockchain for developers in the world.

Now you might be thinking, “How can we expect to deliver a better developer experience than older and better funded projects?” Well, being older means having more antiquated technology, and while they might have more money from VCs or an ICO, that also means they weren’t free to design the best protocol for developers. They had to build the protocol their investors wanted them to build, which means maximizing the short term value of their investment, not building the best product possible for developers.

The whole reason we built Koinos without ICOing or raising venture capital, was so that we could have the freedom to deliver the best platform possible for developers so that they could deliver the best applications possible to their users. In other words, Koinos was built to be grassroots. Yes, that means we can’t just sit on our hands and hope the beneficent VCs will somehow make Koinos a success as they exit their investment. That’s not what Koinos was designed for. Koinos is designed to be used. It is designed to have a great user experience, and it’s designed to have a great developer experience. What we all do with that opportunity is on us.

Koinos isn’t for people who want to take a backseat in life. Koinos is for people who want to get their hands dirty, helping to make the world more decentralized, fair, and free.
