International Highline Meeting — Italy

Possibly the most terrifying of the pick. The International Highline Meeting festival takes place hundreds of feet above the Italian dolomite Alps with the attendees spending most of their time hanging out in hammocks supported by tightropes stretched across the mountains. You’ll be hard pushed to beat the views but this is certainly not for the faint hearted.

Kakslauttanen, Finland

Kakslauttanen is a family run hotel located in Finnish Lapland, 250 kilometers north of the Arctic Circle. Famous for it’s igloo village and the world’s largest snow restaurant, guests can expect to enjoy the stunning local scenery and the usual winter activities such as ice fishing, snowmobiling and admiring the local wildlife. Evenings can then be spent lying in your warm cosy bed, looking up at the Northern Lights.

Free Spirit Spheres, Vancouver Island, Canada

These cool, quirky and unique spherical tree-houses provide guests with a true back to nature experience. Suspended 15 feet in the air, guests at the Free Spirit Spheres will be gently rocked to sleep while being suspended from the tree tops in the west coast rain-forest of Vancouver Island. High Ropes Forest, Germany

Taking camping to the extreme, these tents are pitched high up in the German Alps with views over the Pfronten mountains. Not for the over-packer, only bare essentials — sleeping bag, rope and a basic dinner can be taken up with you. However, it is unlikely that you will find a more picturesque setting to catch those forty winks.
