Finding, recruiting, and hiring team members is one of the top challenges facing any founding team. As VCs, the number one ask we get from founders in our portfolio is, “Can you help me hire?” Different companies have different needs, but there are three ingredients that all new companies need to survive: capital, human resources, and continued growth. Capital is the resource we provide, but support around human resources and growth are the services that VCs provide. After all, VCs do file their tax returns as service providers at the end of each year.

Kokopelli Capital makes no claims to have solved the hiring challenges our companies face, nor do we pretend that we are a full-time recruiting firm. What we are is a community driven venture fund. The collective resources and knowledge of the community are greater than an individual or single entity.

We’ve developed a community based approach to help with hiring for growing companies.

With the help of our founders in our portfolio — affectionately referred to as the Kokofolio — we developed a Colorado focused hiring guide. In this guide you will find tips and tricks to help with your own hiring needs as you grow your business. By no means is it perfect, but it is meant to be a resource from the Kokopelli Community to the broader Colorado ecosystem. It’s not a place to call out specific people or hiring firms, but a simple education and discovery tool.

It is just the beginning. Much like the open sourced Colorado Colorado Early Stage Funding resource that we developed a few years ago. Our intent is to have this document be a living and breathing thing that evolves over time. If you have any edits or suggestions, feel free to send them to cory@kokopelli.vc and we will get them added.
