Congratulations! You’re a mom
Having kids is the most life changing moment anyone can experience. You already know that by now. If not yet, you will one day. Nothing is preparing you for that. Not having brothers, sisters nor cousins. Nor does babysitting while studying or helping a friend in need or family member. It’s life changing and, most of all, it’s revelatory. You realise all the difficult situations you might have encountered, are secondary.
But before getting into this, let’s talk about being pregnant. From our experience so far, it’s all about a specific mind set. And preparation. The body transforms, yet it knows exactly what it needs to do. It’s a total discovery the first time and, most of the time, a confirmation the second.
When it comes to mind set: we would suggest to just let it be! Get into the game and let mother nature do the rest. We think it’s about embracing the moment and enjoying this unique time. It’s not every day that your tommy is moving by itself. Such a magic “trick” we women are capable of!! We should stand proud, confident and powerful. As there is nothing more powerful on Earth than the ability to give birth!!
Once that is out of the way :), all need to do is prepare your home. Start with your whole apartment or house. Identify any windows, doors, walls which need fixing. Any corners, furniture, cables and plugs, stairs which are not safe for babies. Than move to the baby room. If you have the possibility of having one, make sure you plan to have your baby in his/hers as soon as possible. Decide on color and furniture such as cradle, bed, changing table, wardrobe and rug. Try not to overdo it, in time you will add items, so you want the room to be easy to organise and not too full.
