It is with hearts full of a bittersweet, resolute optimism that we have decided to part ways from the traditional agency model. We say farewell to a very special relationship — our first love — and embrace a conscious uncoupling that is simply for the best. We’ve just grown apart.

For the discoveries made between pots of coffee and seas of sticky notes, thank you. For the long nights and hard-fought outcomes, thank you. For the lifelong connections made with endlessly talented individuals, thank you. For the tiny burrs of agency life that caught our skin, hardened to scar tissue and shaped us into resilient, incisive professionals — thank you, thank you.

Today, we’re breaking up with the traditional agency.

We’re saying goodbye to over-selling and under-delivering, dumping the uninspired work produced inefficiently, tossing the toothbrush of the “I’ll sleep when I’m dead” mindset.

Instead of swiping right until we find a rebound, we’ve decided to make things better by building something different. The only constant in this life is change, and a new world demands a new approach. Let us free ourselves from the slew of -isms that cause damage, create obstacles, and dishearten those who are hungry to do good work. Because we are, in fact, hungry.

We have no use for outdated hierarchies and hollow promises. The pain points of traditional agency structures have become achingly clear. To the big holding companies who’ve lost sight of the why behind the what: Thank you for the opportunities and challenges that somehow brought us closer to ourselves and informed our intentions for the future. We’re grateful. But it’s not us — it’s you.

To honor the lessons learned over the course of this relationship, we offer a resolution to make beautiful things, together. To do good work for good reasons, together. To weave a rich network of humans who believe in our work, our clients, and each other.

We’ll be quick, but never hasty. Because we — and our clients — deserve it.

As we heal and assess what’s ahead, we’re replacing the patterns of our former relationship with something better: a cooperative model that centers stories and the humans telling them. A model that is agile, unburdened and wholly new, composed of fiercely independent agencies greater than the sum of its parts. A tapestry of thinkers, doers and dreamers united by one common goal — to re-infuse our work with the life it’s been lacking.

Hey traditional agencies, it was fun while it lasted. We’re just not that into you.
