Seeing HaLos Everywhere

Since introducing HaLos tags (short for Hardware Locked Contracts) at ETHDenver, the KONG Land ecosystem has seen significant growth. These tags are now being utilized by a range of innovative brands, such as Azuki, MetaFactory, Decode, and more, to power their physical crypto products.

Chipped goods galore. And yes, that is a bong on the blockchain :)

$CITIZEN NFTs Revealed

The reveal of the KONG Land Citizen NFTs was a highly anticipated event, and it did not disappoint. Alpha citizens who previously acquired and burned their ERC20 $CITIZEN tokens for a yet-unrevealed ERC721, used their physical KONG Land passport to unlock their unique avatars.

The NFTs are truly a feast for the senses, each based on a different Greek god and featuring intricate 3D rendering and special audio tracks based on the avatar’s attributes.

Only a fraction of the 500 Alpha Citizen NFTs have been revealed to date, meaning we can expect more exciting unveilings in 2023.

$CITIZENs IRL

KONG Land and its citizens have had a busy year attending various crypto and technology events, including CES, ETHDenver, NFT Berlin, EthCC, MCON, and SF Blockchain Week. It was incredible to meet fellow citizens in person and put new faces to the names on our Discord server.

We also had the opportunity to speak with many creators, brands, and DAOs interested in how HaLos could help them create unique crypto experiences in the real world.

Even with an amazing 2022 behind us, we believe that KONG Land is just at the beginning of bridging physical things with digital ownership rights through secure chips. Despite the uncertain crypto market outlook, the engagement and excitement we see with those who want to build real-world crypto experiences leads us to believe that 2023 is the year for IRL crypto builders.

Go Outside and Touch $LAND

Following the establishment of the DAO, the first proposal put to a vote was for the creation of $LAND, a digital currency to be used within KONG Land. $LAND is designed to recognize and reward the efforts and contributions of $CITIZENs to the crypto state, and to facilitate transactions within KONG Land. To encourage its use within the community and reward those who actively participate in KONG Land, $LAND can only be exchanged between $CITIZEN holders.

ERS: An Open Protocol for Resolving Chips

The Ethereum Reality Service (ERS) is an on-chain registry for physical crypto assets. It provides a means to authenticate secure crypto chips, like HaLos, and the products they are integrated in. Additionally, ERS enables the holders of HaLos and to resolve what smart contract claims and functions are available to given chips — whether PBTs, NFTs, fungible tokens or more. ERS is a publicly available resource for chip manufacturers, creators, brands and end users. Arx Research, which operates KONG Land’s chip manufacturing hub, is leading the development of ERS which will continue into 2023.

ERS will create new opportunities for KONG Land citizens to get involved, whether through direct contributions to the ERS project, promoting the wider ecosystem of ERS-registered physical crypto goods, or collaborating with these projects on marketing and other initiatives.

Paving the Way for the Future of Physical Crypto

We believe that the potential for physical crypto is limitless. HaLo chips provide strong guarantees about the authenticity of an item, but the possibilities for linking on-chain assets and capabilities are even greater.

The lines between physical and digital are blurring, and KONG Land has only scratched the surface of what is possible in this exciting and rapidly-evolving space.
