$RERRO Quest By KONG Land

The first global, permissionless NFC scavenger hunt launched at ETHDenver.

ETHDenver 2024, “The Year of the SporkWhale,” brought together a vibrant community of builders, users, and enthusiasts across all blockchains, fostering a collaborative multichain ecosystem of innovation and energy. Among various activation activities, NFC technology played a prominent role, with several projects, including IYK and POAP, offering interactive scan-to-win challenges. However, only KONG Land’s $RERRO Quest entered unchartered territory as the world’s first global, permissionless scavenger hunt.

$RERROs — the ambrosia of KONG Land.

Our quest led brave adventurers on a legendary journey to hunt for $RERROs (ERC-20 tokens on BASE) alongside the Guardians of KONG. Inspired by the delectable Ferrero Rocher chocolates and ingrained in the mythos of KONG Land’s origins, $RERROs, renowned for their ‘up only’ vitality, were the key to restoring harmony between physical and digital realms. Questing Beyond ETHDenver

Being fully permissionless, $RERRO Quest expanded beyond the confines of just ETHDenver. Thanks to the HaLo secure chips that powered the quest, intrepid adventurers could discover and scan any HaLo-chipped item, whether present at the event or hanging in someone’s closet at home. Scannable items at ETHDenver included $RERRO drop points hidden in plain sight and HaLo chipped merch.

Based on an adapted version of the OpenZeppelin Minimal Forwarder that leverages ERC-2771 meta-transactions transactions on behalf of the HaLo chips, $RERRO Quest offered participants a simple yet elegant experience — no gas required. Upon each successful scan of a chip, $RERRO tokens were minted directly into participants’ wallets, all without needing a direct wallet connection.

An online leaderboard tracked the overall quest progress with treasures from MetaFactory, House OG, On-Chain Records, and Kong Cash awaiting the top adventurers.
