As a platform Koo accommodates multiple choices and behaviors. Every user on Koo has the freedom to speak about a topic of interest in a language of their choice.

The legal and cultural perspectives around nudity and sexual materials have diverse shades around the globe. Some cultures are open, others declare nudity as illegal while in other places it is illegal to trade in nudity but watching is not.

For Koo, local language, law and culture is supreme. This approach creates several layers of content moderation nuances.

In this writeup we summarize the approach taken to accommodate multiple choices and cultures to nudity.

There is Zero Tolerance on Koo for child sexual abuse materials (CSAM).

Anyone posting, exchanging, requesting, following, reacting or engaging with CSAM, has no place on Koo. You will be blocked permanently, without any notice and are not welcome back.

CSAM is the most depraved form of online content and Koo condemns it in the harshest way.

Our official handle @KooForGood is the lightning rod for tagging CSAM materials — please do so when you see any content. CSAM can also be reported anonymously, using the in app reporting features.

We also fully cooperate in reporting these materials to law enforcement agencies across the globe.

We expect users to follow the laws of their country and their own cultures. If nudity is illegal in your country, please do not post it. If it is not illegal, but certain forms are considered distasteful or edgy, use your best judgment.

Koo creates communities based on languages and cultures, and showcases content from such language and culture. If a particular piece of content does not represent your culture, please do not post in your community.

While moderating such content we will respond to voices of other users from within a community and in accordance with local law.

In cultures where nudity is accepted or ignored, Koo does not interfere as well, unless private parts are exhibited obscenely, the content contains live sex, the sexual content is involuntary, the content is depraved and the sole purpose of the content is to disgust others or content is in bad taste.

Artistic sexual content must be labelled as such. However, it will be evaluated on the above criteria as well.

As a general rule, nude content

  1. Is geo fenced
  2. Is not promoted
  3. Is not found in people feed
  4. Is not searchable
  5. Will be handed over to law enforcement, if there is a valid order from a law enforcement agency (including information relating to users collected in accordance with our Privacy Policy)

We are open to constructive means to accommodate user tastes from across the globe. Please do not hesitate to write to publicpolicy@kooapp.com with your suggestions and comments. Suggestions will be kept confidential.
