How to use Koota
So you Registered for the Koota app? Congrats, you’re on the cutting edge of social media, where it comes full circle to help you create new, real-world friendships!
But how do you use it?
Let’s start with the home screen!
This is a feed of events you are invited to. Use the:
- search bar
- filter tool (top right)
to sort for the events you want to see! The filter tool is your friend, with all kinds of filters from time of day to topics! You can keep your filters around by choosing “set filters as default” or search with them once by choosing “search with filters.” If you search with filters, they go away when you reload the page, so you can see everything again!
Try opening one of the events that you are interested in! In the event, you will see 4 tabs:
- the deets
- where
- who
- messages
Look through these tabs to see all the info on the event! If you would like to go, click the menu button on the top right and select “I’m Going!” This is also where you can tell us if an event is inappropriate. In the top Left, you can go back to the home page.
Now you’re seeing all the events you want to see on your home page! Create a new event with the red plus button on the bottom right of your screen, then start with Topics:
- First you add topics to your event! Be sure to include any topic that is relevant to your event, so people can find it in search! If our business partners have offers related to your topics, we will show them to you on the next screen!
- Give your event a title & fill in the details
- add a location
- Set the date & time
- invite friends! This last step, lets you send invitations to everyone, just a group that you’re in, or just your friends by invitation. Anyone you invite will see the event on their homescreen when they log in!
Now that you’ve joined and created events, try making a group to keep your friends together! If you are using an iPhone, use the menu at the bottom of your screen; if you are using an Android, pull the menu from the left side of your screen! Navigate to “Groups.” Here you’ll see all the groups you’re in, and create more with that same red plus button! Try creating a group & inviting your friends into it!
Once your group is made, you can invite it to new events you create & chat about other member’s events!
You’re almost a Koota pro! Go ahead and finish out your profile on “My Koota” by adding a profile picture & adding all your friends! On your “My Koota” page, you can also see the events you have created and saved. As you use Koota, you will earn achievements (hint: these can have discounts at local businesses attached)!
You’re now a Koota pro! Not too hard, right? If you want to go crazy, feel free to look at you settings too. We will keep updating these to give you more control over your privacy and your notifications. Here you can also block users if they aren’t playing nice. Remember, Koota is for friends, so feel free to block unfriendly people — you won’t see their events, and they won’t see yours. This way you can keep the good vibes going!
