현재의 이더리움은 대규모의 트래픽과 트랜잭션을 하나의 블록체인에서 처리하기에 다소 한계가 있다고 알려져 있습니다. 룸네트워크는 이더리움의 확장성 문제를 해결하기 위하여 사이드체인을 도입한 솔루션으로, 이더리움 블록체인 위의 레이어 2에서 DPoS (Delegated Proof-of-Stake, 위임지분증명) 합의 알고리즘으로 작동하는 플라즈마 체인을 구현합니다. 플라즈마는 2017년 비탈릭 부테린과 조셉 푼에 의해 고안 된 기술로, 하위체인으로 이더리움 확장성을 꾀하는 기술입니다. 룸네트워크는 플라즈마 하위 프로젝트인 플라즈마 캐시를 구현하고 상용화한 최초이자 현재 유일한 프로젝트 입니다. 이 플라즈마체인 위에 룸네트워크가 제공하는 SDK를 이용하여 손쉽게 dApp을 개발할 수 있으며, 사용자나 데이터가 늘어나면 플라즈마 체인과 연결되어있는 독자적인 사이드체인인 dApp 체인을 구축하여 하나의 블록체인으로 트래픽이 몰려 혼잡해지는 것을 방지할 수 있습니다. 코빗은 이더리움 블록체인 생태계에 확장성을 높여주는 룸네트워크의 체인에서 DPoS를 위한 스테이킹과 체인위의 dApp에서 유틸리티로 사용되는 동명의 토큰인 룸네트워크(LOOM)를 신규 상장하기로 결정하였습니다.

블록체인의 대중화를 위한 노력

룸네트워크는 수 백만 명이 쓸 수 있는 어플리케이션을 만들기 위한 인프라인 사이드체인을 기술적으로 구현할 뿐만 아니라 게임과 소셜 앱을 중심으로 다양한 dApp들을 자체적으로 개발하여 출시하고 있습니다. 토큰 이코노미를 결합한 Q&A 서비스인 DelegateCall을 지난 5월 룸네트워크의 첫번째 dApp으로 출시했습니다. 이 외에도, 게임을 하며 이더리움 블록체인 언어인 Solidity와 dApp 개발을 배울 수 있는 크립토좀비, 그리고 최근 출시된 카드 게임 좀비배틀그라운드를 포함하여 총 7개의 서비스를 출시하였습니다. 좀비배틀그라운드에서는 마켓 플레이스를 운영하여 사용자들이 LOOM 토큰을 이용해 게임 아이템을 거래할 수 있도록 할 계획입니다. 이처럼 실질적인 블록체인과 토큰의 활용 가능성을 보여주고 있습니다.

룸네트워크는 2018년 12월 27일부터 코빗의 PC웹과 모바일 앱에서 거래 및 입출금이 가능합니다.

Loom Network is a Layer 2 scaling solution for Ethereum and a network of DPoS sidechains.

Scaling Solution for the Ethereum Ecosystem

There is only so much the Ethereum blockchain can do in terms of operating as a platform for dApps or handling congestion or mass transactions. To solve this scalability issue, Loom Network introduced sidechains and created PlasmaChain, a Layer 2 hub that uses Delegated Proof of Stake (DPoS) as consensus algorithm. Plasma, designed by Vitalik Buterin and Joseph Poon in 2017, is an Ethereum scaling solution using sub-chain. Loom Network is the first and only project that has implemented and commercialized Plasma Cash, a subproject of Plasma. The core product of the Loom Network is a Software Development Kit (SDK) which allows developers to build their own blockchains and create DAppChain from scratch so that their dApps can support a large number of transactions and scale to millions of users without causing major congestion on the blockchain. Korbit has decided to list LOOM, the native currency of Loom Network used for staking and as a utility token for dApps.

Going in for Mass Adoption of Blockchain Technology
In addition to implementing sidechains for dApps, Loom Network is also developing and releasing dApps spanning a range of topics and uses, such as social apps and games.
There have been about seven dApps released by the team, including DelegateCall, a Q&A platform and the very first DAppChain to go live that was built by Loom Network, CryptoZombies, which allows users to learn Solidity programming language and how to code Ethereum dApps, and most recently released Zombie Battleground, a trading card game. The team also has a plan to add a marketplace to Zombie Battleground, which will let users to trade game items with Loom tokens, and is proving the network’s usage in the blockchain technology and token economy.

Deposit/withdrawal and trading of LOOM will be available on PC website and Android/iOS mobile apps from December 26, 2018.
