Cinnamon scents perfect for autumn.

For fall, scents like apple, cinnamon, and pumpkin are very popular. And since we are expecting the Thanksgiving soon, a lot of people are looking for fall scents.

And I wanted to have both transparent looking and white parts, I used the squeeze bottles.

This is the recipe :D

Saturated 20
Lauric ~ (for hardness, water solubility, big bubbles) ~ 5
Myristic ~ (for hardness, water solubility, big bubbles) ~ 2
Palmitic ~ (for hardness, long lasting, small bubbles) ~ 11
Stearic ~ (for hardness, long lasting, small bubbles) ~ 3
Unsaturated 80
Ricinoleic ~ (for mildness, bubble stabilizer) ~ 3
Oleic ~ (for mildness, water solubility) ~ 59
Linoleic ~ (for softness, mildness) ~ 13
Linolenic ~ (for softness, mildness) ~ 2

Since there’s only 20 saturated fats, so it should be very squash soap. But since we are using brine soap recipe, or Soleseife recipe, it’s alright.

We mix the salt in the water and make faux sea water, then use as distilled water. And since salt makes harder bars, it’s alright!

397.3 g Distilled Water ~ https://amzn.to/3jE44WA
4 g Himalayan Pink Salt ~ https://amzn.to/3B8Hf2Y

Well the original brine soap makes about 20–30% salt solution. I only use the 1–2% salt water.

Salt doesn’t dissolve well in water. So if you want to warm it up, do it before we get to use it. And since salts have colors, sometimes. Table salts are fine, sea salt is good. Just don’t use dead sea salts and epsom salts, since there’s lots of mineral contents.

Mineral contents react with lye, and it will produce some water drops, and sometimes cause DOS.

264.9 g Sodium Hydroxide ~ https://amzn.to/3mVRPXO

Measure lye into the container. Please wear mask, goggles, gloves, long sleeve shirt and pants.

I splitted a little water for sugar and citric acid.

And now add lye to salt solution. I used the Himalayan salt, so it would be pink water.

20 g Sugar ~ https://amzn.to/3kKeMua

And now melt sugar of 1% of the total fats, which is 20g. Sugar makes big bubbly lather!

20 g Citric Acid ~ https://amzn.to/3ltK9JV

And add 1% of citric acid as well. You can substitute with lemon juice or vinegar.

Citric acid definitely help reducing soap scum in hard water.

Sugar and citric acid are easy to dissolve with water. Or just use double boiler method if you want to melt them faster.

200 g Coconut Oil (10%) ~ https://amzn.to/38y8yrz

Now use double boiler method to melt hard butter and oils.

Coconut oil is probably one thing we all use. It makes good lather, and hard soaps. But if you use more than 30–35%, some sensitive skin feels itchy and dry, so maybe 20% would be suitable or less.

60 g Castor Oil (3%) ~ https://amzn.to/3zqGlxM

Castor oil is the only oil we can stabilize the suds.

It can increase the unsaturated fat Ricinoleic. It makes softer feel soap. 3–5% is mostly suitable.

400 g Canola Oil (20%) ~ https://amzn.to/3CmRrpw

Canola oil is grocery market oil. It makes very soft and squash soaps. It makes the soap feels soft.

1340 g Olive Oil (67%) ~ https://amzn.to/3DMlRCz

My favorite oil of all. It feels very good on skin, and it can even make castille soap with good lather. I love love olive oil.

2 g Rosemary Oleoresin Extract (ROE) ~ https://amzn.to/3gV0Mwp

Since fats and lye make new content, a soap, why do we need something to prevent rancidity?

Because of superfat ratio. We of course use the soap calculator, to be in the ‘soap making zone’ of recipes. But you should know the SAP values are there for us to calculate the amount, but! it is not exact. It is most accurate, but there’s still some margin of errors…

And of course, the soap has fats in them. We should prevent the rancidity of fats in soaps. Or soaps can go bad pretty fast, in some cases, within three months! you will see DOS that soon.

20 g Cornstarch ~ https://amzn.to/3zEYW9H
20 g Cinnamon Fragrance Oil ~ https://amzn.to/3jDKWYG

This is the cinnamon fragrance oil, not essential oil. I like to stick fragrance oils into cornstarch or any powder I put into the soaps.

Cinnamon and spices tickled my nose at the time of making it, but now after four weeks, it’s not that overwhelming anymore. Somewhat sad.

And now mix sugar and citric acid solution into lye solution.

Sugar reacts with lye, and it gets crystalized badly. But if you melt the sugar into a water, then mix, the crystallization occurs in molecule level. So definitely it’s working nice this way.

So I recommend mixing the sugar and citric acid solution with water before you mix those two.

Now pour and mix lye solution with fats. Ready to get to the emulsion stage!

You can use spatula with your arm, but have to keep stirring and it would take 1–2 days, or longer to get saponification done, and get hard.

You want to fast the process, up to thin to thick tracing, please use stick mixer.

Duration would be around 1–2 seconds, and use up to 10–20 seconds, depending on the trace level you want to see, then mix thoroughly, top and bottom.

I want to make white and transparent parts, in the middle. So, I got the squeeze bottle this time.

If you have frosting bag, icing bag, you can use that. Piping bag, or even zip locks work.

I just wanted to use reusable bottles.

Mica ~ https://amzn.to/2YOZw8y

I made white color using white mica and titanium dioxide, And, this soap has white parts, and a little yellowish pale, not clearly clear parts.

I of course put more white in between, so whole soap has white background.

But this thing, fragrance accelerated the trace, it got very thicker.

Unfortunately I just poured them all as soon as possible.

I speeded up so fast, got all into the mold.

And the nice thing was, after four weeks, the soap turns out very well, even the design parts lol

I smell a little cinnamon and just little of spices, suitable for fall.

This is the YouTube video!

What should I make next?
