Goat milk powder brings another level of softness!

Goat milk powder is one of the popular ingredients in soap making, because it makes soap super soft.

Linoleic ~ (for softness, mildness) ~ 9
Linolenic ~ (for softness, mildness) ~ 1

Due to palm oil content, this soap will be hard enough to use long time.

432.5 g Distilled Water ~ https://amzn.to/3jE44WA

To reduce temperature I used iced water.

20 g Himalayan Pink Salt ~ https://amzn.to/3Cta5fv
20 g Sugar ~ https://amzn.to/3kKeMua
20 g Citric Acid ~ https://amzn.to/3ltK9JV

Salt is not soluble more than 3.5%, so I recommend using salt solution. And sugar and citric acid is well soluble in water.

Sugar also can be substituted with syrup, and honey, citric acid can be substituted with vinegar or lemon juice.

288.3 g Sodium Hydroxide ~ https://amzn.to/3mVRPXO

Please store sodium hydroxide in a proper container. Stainless steel or industrial plastic, thick plastic is alright.

Pour lye to water. The temp goes up very high.

300 g Olive Oil (15%) ~ https://amzn.to/2Xw0ZiM

Olive oil and castor oil are liquid in room temperature; they don’t required to be heated up.

600 g Coconut Oil (30%) ~ https://amzn.to/38y8yrz

Coconut oil and hard butters can be warmed up by double boiler. Or you will get what is called, stearic acid spots, white spots.

800 g Red Palm Oil (40%) ~ https://amzn.to/3nKIYIR

I rarely use the red palm oil due to its yellow color, everything contacts red palm oil gets so yellow.

It’s easier to get yellow color though, doesn’t require to use lots of yellow colorant.

20 g Citric Acid ~ https://amzn.to/3ltK9JV

Citric acid doesn’t lower ph level of soap. Citric acid is a chelator, it prevents soap scum in hard water.

Citric acid becomes sodium citrate, and works as a chelator.

20 g Fragrance Oil ~ https://amzn.to/3AtyPno

I added Lavandin essential oil, it is a little stronger scent than lavender essential oil.

Lavender has a therapeutic effect, than lavandin. But lavandin has more stronger herb scents.

40 g Goat Milk Powder ~ https://amzn.to/2YjUi3X

I poured goat milk powder to essential oils. It’s easier to add scents and powder mixture into soap batter, then you won’t have the powder pocket in a soap.

Add some more oils to the mixture to disperse.

Especially when the fragrance oil has somewhat bad behavior like ricing or separation on soap, it is definitely better to add warmed oil to the fragrance oil to prevent really bad separation or ricing.

800 g Red Palm Oil (40%) ~ https://amzn.to/3nKIYIR

Add warmed up hard butters to liquid oils.

Temperature should be around 40–45 C or 100–110 F. Higher than that can make soap batter to trace really bad, causing soap in a stick.

Mix lye water, lye solution with oils.

Get some air bubbles our of hand mixer, and stir about 5–10 seconds.

Mix well, oils get at the top of mixture, stir upwards and downwards.

2 g Rosemary Oleoresin Extract (ROE) ~ https://amzn.to/3gV0Mwp

They are super expensive, but if you want to store your soap longer than a year, please use ROE for prevent rancidity.

I used to use vitamin E, but the best result in preventing rancidity is using ROE at 0.1% of oil contents.

It’s also recommended with EDTA and ROE, to get the best results, but I only use ROE… it’s just my preferences.

And add the mixture of fragrance oil with goat milk powder.

Now divide batter into two pour sprouts.

I discounted the water to 7%, it’s 40% lye concentration, plenty of time to work on.

Mica ~ https://amzn.to/3t99HiN

And add dispersed the white mica or white colorant into one of the soap batter. I used titanium dioxide to make a little whiter.

The brighter side will be the yellow, and dark yellow would represent the depth of the moon.

Cylinder Mold ~ https://amzn.to/3hQOK7W

You will need cylinder mold, if not, just use what you have. Just pour one color and the other.

In fact, it doesn’t really matter which color goes first.

At the end, the height is too low, so the color is not mixed well. You can use the middle to slight end, not these.

After 24 hour, it was still soft, so I unmolded after 48 hours.

Now this soap looks like this in the middle.

It suits on Korean Thanksgiving theme? :)
