Blockchain is a fast evolving emerging industry and there are many events where professionals from established businesses meet with colleagues from a new wave of growing businesses and startups. Those events are often followed by people from “classical” industries, governments and other organisations. For us, it is important to choose events where we can present our business, share our “first-hand” knowledge and experience, build relationships with the new people that we meet and learn as much as possible.

Last weekend I was invited to attend the first edition of Romania Blockchain Summit in Bucharest and the event was great! Here’s a short recap of the entire experience.

On the scene just hours before my panel where we discussed STOs and ICOs.

Great agenda, great speakers and one of the best venues in the world!

Romania Blockchain Summit was announced as the largest Summit of the industry organized in South-Eastern Europe, bringing together the Romanian public sector, political decision-makers, developers, researchers, global entrepreneurs and leaders, and innovators from the blockchain industry.

Their goal was to promote the benefits of blockchain technology and its use cases as one of the most important opportunities for achieving economic and social progress both at the level of Romania and at the level of the European Union.

It was all that they promised and much more. Myself having a strong background in event management and entertainment business I was truly impressed that the organisers managed to make all this happen in their first edition of the event.

Looking at the agenda and the list of speakers they managed to cover several aspects of the industry — legal, fundraising, government, cryptocurrencies, use cases, finance, and public sector. The list of speakers included some established speakers like (Minister for Communications and Information Society), Alexandru Petrescu Mihai Alisie (Co-founder of Ethereum), Livio Weng (CEO of Huobi Global), Miko Matsumura (Founder at Evercoin), Jorge Sebastiao (CTO Eco-System — Huawei Technologies) and many others. I’m glad I was able to share the same stage with all these great individuals.

The production of the event was awesome and one of the things that will always make this event different from all the others is the venue. The event was held at the Palace of Parliament, one of the most astonishing and breathtaking buildings I have ever visited. The Palace of Parliament measures 330,000 m2 (~3,550,000 sq ft) and is regarded as former dictator’s Nicolae Ceaușescu most cherished jewel. By definition, it is one of the most significant sightseeing objectives in Bucharest, the capital of Romania.

You can see that the venue was so large that I struggled to keep it all in the frame. The Romanian Palace of the Parliament is truly colossal and breathtaking in person. It will be tough to top this as a conference venue.

We were able to present our business and share our experience.

I was invited to share our experience on the topic of raising funds for a company and I participated in a panel on the main stage. Adrian Stratulat from Romania Blockchain Summit was moderating a panel called STOs and ICOs — an alternative to traditional funding with myself and Francesco Redaelli (Marketing Manager at Eidoo (Poseidon Group)), Mihai Milea (CDO at 7Marketz), Sergiu Draganus (Co-founder of CryptoCoin.Pro) and Tiberiu Focica (CEO & Founder at Daicore).

We shared our thoughts and experience on the topic and focused on the pros and cons of digital securities. The main takeaway of the panel that Security Tokens ecosystem needs to grow and evolve and rather than speaking what Security tokens are, we were discussing what they might and will become.

Seated from left to right: Sergiu Draganus, Mihai Milea, Francesco Redaelli, Dejan Davidovic, Tiberiu Focica, and Adrian Stratulat as a moderator.

Building relationships and learning.

The event offered many opportunities for networking and establishing new relationships. I’m glad I came back with new friends from Romania and I was able to learn from the knowledge and experience of others.

I wish lots of success to the Romania Blockchain Summit team in the future and they managed to put themselves on the map of must-attend blockchain events. We will definitely be back next year and I’m already looking forward to it!
