A sunny day it was. The entire student community from my school was standing under the hot sun, with jaws dropped and eyes wide open. There he was, the magician on stage, cheering the crowd with an interesting abracadabra and an eye-catching, beautiful magic wand.

Since then, I never got to see magic until 15th of August 2017. It was a magic made possible not with wands, but with a bunch of hands put together for a cause.

On this Independence Day, around 50 people decided to dedicate three hours of our day, to make it possible. Behind the scene, there were close to 10 people whose thoughts and actions were focused on getting this magic mo(ve)ment rightly done!!

We from Krishi Janani, organized a spot fixing event at two different districts (Erode, Tiruppur) of Tamil Nadu, to mark the completion of 70 years of Indian independence. Being our first attempt, we had to overcome a lot of challenges until the last minute and then some. Bringing in local volunteers, arranging the required set of tools, finding the right spot and even more. But nothing was impossible, for we were all eagerly dreaming of the day.

And that day just came, only to remind us that things may not go according to our plan, but it is always possible to make something happen! We were all determined. With the warm support of local volunteers, enthusiastic school kids, a bunch of youngsters, we brought in an instant transformation.

At the end of the third hour, a rush of happiness and a feeling of fulfillment bloomed in each of us. The tempo and bus stands in Kundadam looked unrecognizable, even arty.

Our magic word was change! Our magic wand was determination! I now strongly believe, we are all magicians of some sort! More magic to come!!
