Krishi Janani (www.krishijanani.org) is a members-only subscription service that enables farm households in India reduce expenses and increase income by aggregating their purchasing power. It is built on a combination of an online tech platform and a network of rural ag tech centers.

Krishi Janani’s membership network operates on a subscription fee. Basic membership is free, premium membership costs Rs. 500 per year. Farmer-members get basic or premium discounts on products, services, events, and training based on their membership level. Krishi Janani’s rural ag tech centers will serve as the physical hub for member service, product distribution, and special events.

In 2016, Krishi Janani plans to open 6 rural Ag Tech Centers to serve 1500 farmer-members. Our goal is to deploy 30 centers serving 30,000 farmer-members by 2020.

Krishi Janani’s mission is to enable small farmers have transformative global impact by building social capital, finding micro solutions for complex global crises such as climate change and creating economic wealth in depressed rural economies.

Position Required

We are seeking 4 managerial candidates for Krishi Janani’s Head Office situated in rural Kangayam. Positions include Ag Tech Center Manager, Marketing Manager, Membership Manager, and Procurement Manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in any subject. Special consideration for degrees or certificates in agribusiness, Agripreneurship, social development, or rural development.
  • Excellent communication skill in Tamil. Good English language skills a plus.
  • Candidates should be passionate about improving rural livelihoods and encouraging sustainable agriculture. Interest in or exposure to agriculture is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Well organized self-starters –be a part of a startup team willing to work hard to grow membership by providing excellent service to farming communities.
  • Team management — capacity to manage a small team.
  • Communication skills — ability to engage with a wide range of people, from farmers to subject matter experts to international guests.
  • Proficient in computers — word processing, spread sheet, internet, email, online database entry.
  • Coordination skills — ability to manage and coordinate a range of activities including small special programs to large events to innovative projects.
  • Ability to think outside the box — imagine and work towards a future where social impact and corporate profits are two sides of the same coin.
