Spot Fix on Independence Day
We celebrated our Independence Day with a spot fix event at Andhiyur.
A photo journey of our effort to take a hard look at our surroundings and to keep our environment clean.
One wall in the weekly market at Andhiyur (in Erode District, Tamil Nadu) was our target.
Volunteers: Krishi Janani staff, members, vendors, students from Government Boys High School.
Before: Trash accumulated over many months. After: A painted wall with all our handprints.
It looked quite unsurmountable at the beginning. But after many hands and a couple of hours, there was an end to the trash mountain.
Local panchayat helped with tools, staff and a tractor to haul the trash away.
Next came the wall painting session which became a popular a task. Too popular a task that there was a shortage of paint brushes.
Painting also included a few artsy touches. Creative idea #1: Krishi Janani logo, as designed by our volunteers.
Creative idea #2: Our hand prints. This became a fun exercise with everyone leaving their mark on the wall. Literally!
The few hours of spot fixing concluded with distribution of tree saplings and a publication on organic farming.
A few hours to fix a spot. Plus, a lot of fun in the process.
We plan to do more of this in the future. Email us if you would like to join in.
