Statement:

Below is a poem I wrote some time ago. It’s the first thing Ithought about that speaks to where my politics and art collide…

Call and Response
To your womb
I want to strap
snap and secure
a bullet proof vest
so our child will be
born in safety
rest life-soaked and still
like a hand, foot or spleen
Some fifty-feet from an explosion
If I die tomorrow
the beauty of it
is that I can say
I will never love
anyone else
but you
