The tea on Connect Coffee
I was attracted to the beautiful interiors of Connect Coffee at Riverfront building. The building is adjacent to Chiromo Campus-UoN. To get there, you can board matatus heading to Kileleshwa at Odeon and that will cost you ksh.50. On the other hand, you can take a taxi-Uber can go for around kes.175–351 from Westlands. We went to the place on a Sunday morning and in all honesty, thought we would be the only persons in there. The opposite was the fact, there were a couple of people over there basking in the glory of Sunday morning.
The ceiling lights were the first thing that caught my attention followed by the wet-look floor finish. We took our seats at the corner table from where we had a wide view of the cafe. They have sisal sacks full of coffee beans, a coffee processing machine and everything else you will need to make ground coffee. From our side, we had the view of Villarosa Kempinski.
Counter orders are the order in the cafe. The menu is on the wall at the counter from where everyone can have its view. That counter order may make you want everything in the cafe as the pastry shelf is just under your nose. As I had an earlier glance at their online menu it was easier to make choice as to what to indulge in. Also, the cashier/ barista gladly answered every question I had on the types of coffee. We had our freshly brewed coffee served in about 5 minutes. The counter menu is a good way to save on paper and hygienic, in my opinion.
The cafe is quiet. This and the sockets on the benches make it an ideal place to catch up on some work. You will also not be only one typing on your laptop as some guys were on work-mode as they sipped on coffee. The music is soothing and the cafe has an open space with cushioned chairs. Therefore, minimal distractions and comfortable seating. Students, who also frequent the place, can enjoy a discount on their coffee. You can sit down to enjoy the contents of your coffee cup or grab one to go. On the flip side, the place does not facilitate outdoor seating and the menu selection is limited if you consider the regular Kenyan who likes their fries and milkshakes- like me. But then you are here to enjoy coffee, right? For the non-partakers of coffee-also me, you can have tea.
