A toiletry bag is where you put your personal effects. This can be your toothbrush, lotion and any other personal item that you require. A toiletry bag is very handy when you travel. It makes it easy to grab your personal items together and pack on the go. You are always sure that you have everything you need in one bag once you have it. You should have a checklist of what you should carry in your bag so as to make sure you have the necessities and you don’t carry excess. A toiletry bag ensures that you become ‘self-contained’ as you travel. Here are a few recommendations and a printable pdf below that you can use this Christmas.

Moisturiser.

First of all, a moisturiser is very important for your skin. Whether you are travelling to the beach or a game reserve, make sure you have a moisturiser with you. It keeps your skin soft and you will not feel ashy as you travel. For those with many homes aka “ushago” having this in a packable toiletry bag, will save you a lot. You don’t want your relatives asking “Huyu anatoka city na hata hawezi beba mafuta?”😒 You don’t want to be that person always begging for body lotions from everyone.

Body deodorant and perfume

Things get sweaty after seating the vehicle for too long. A small body spray will come in pay as soon as you alight the matatu. Do make sure to carry a mini-bottle of your perfume as you travel like the body spray in the image below. which is 59 ml. If your favourite perfume doesn’t come in a mini-pack, you can buy a travel bottle pack which comes a spray bottle for putting your perfume. This way you don’t end up looking like the crazy aunt who carries the whole of the perfume store with her. Also, it is less painful to have a mini-pack of your perfume getting lost than the whole bottle, right? As you pack your perfume, remember, it may leak or even evaporate. So if you cannot get your hands on a lockable spray bottle, make sure to pack in a small paper before putting your perfume into the toiletry bag.

Sanitary Towel.

It happens that the cycle may change with a change of weather. A sanitary towel will help you in the oops moments. You may end up travelling to a place that does not have a shop in sight so give yourself the peace of mid by packaging at least a pack of those. Whether it is a tampon or a pad, choose whichever you feel comfortable with. While you are at that, you may want to download the Clue app to help track your cycle. So far, it is one of the best period trackers out there.😏

Toothbrush and toothpaste

Oral hygiene should a daily habit. Carry a small pack of toothpaste like the 13g Closeup which you can find at almost any shop for ksh.25. Your travel toothbrush should be different from your everyday toothbrush. You can find the small Colgate toothbrush at a kiosk for ksh.20 bob. It is very practical and does the same basic job as an expensive one. I recommend putting your toothbrush in hot salty water after every journey to keep it clean.

There are more other items which you can carry in your toiletry bag. I have listed these items in a printable pdf. Toiletry CheckList
