Taking a walk on the wild side

What could be more exciting than going on a walking safari? This adrenalin-rush, heart-thumping experience will be savoured for a lifetime. Kruger Park Travel’s experienced Trail Rangers will introduce you to the wild side of Africa. Learn how to track big game, interpret scents and sounds, and discover the before unknown interaction between animal species. Exchanging stories around the campfire after a day’s exploration on foot will live on in your memory for the rest of your life. This is a truly unforgettable experience.

Kruger Park Travel has carefully selected three bush camps that blend in with the natural environment. The camps are also in areas teeming with wildlife, including the Big Five. Open-air jeeps transport safari-goers on morning and afternoon game-spotting drives. But the heart-thumping excitement of this safari is the sunset walks with a trained and armed game ranger. Who said that going on safari was safe or dull?

After the excitement of the day, guests can retire to a fully-serviced safari tent. They share open-air bathrooms. These, however, have all the mod-cons such as hot water, flush toilets, and showers. This safari includes accommodation, game drives, and walks, as well as breakfast, lunch, and supper. Children must be over the age of 12 years. Prices start from R7 100.

The Sabie River Tented Camp is a secluded bush site within the Greater Kruger National Park. The river, which is one of the most biologically diverse in Southern Africa, is a magnet for wildlife. Animals congregate on the banks in the early morning or late afternoon to slake their thirst. It is here that visitors will be enthralled by glimpses of the Big Five, as well as hundreds of other species such as Giraffe, Kudu, Wildebeest, and Zebra. The area also attracts species of the feathered variety. It is not uncommon to hear the screech of the magnificent Fish Eagle or to spot the graceful antics of birds of prey on the thermal waves. Guests are taken on morning and later afternoon safari drives in open vehicles.

This region of the KNP is home to 145 mammals, 500 bird, 110 reptiles, 45 fish, 30 amphibian and 330 tree species.

Accommodation is provided in en-suite tented rooms and the trip includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Children of any age group are welcome on this safari. With prices starting at R7 800, this is yet another Kruger Park Travel sure-fire safari tour winner.
