Hello friends, and welcome back to another biweekly update.

🐲 Happy Year of the Dragon! 🐲 The team will be taking a week off to head back home and spend time with friends and family during Chinese New Year. However, just before we leave, let us share three features that the team worked hard to deliver just before going on a well-deserved break.

Let’s get right into it.

Reintroducing the Earn Tab — DeFi Investing Options

Long-time users of our wallet may recall that we had an Earn Tab that allowed users to stake tokens and earn interest using PancakeSwap back in 2021. Subsequently, the crypto market crashed, token values went down 80+%, market sentiment became overall bearish, and we came to the hard conclusion that the number of users utilizing this feature wasn’t worth the time put into maintaining it.

Fast forward a couple years later as 2024 rolled around, the future is looking brighter. As more and more people start to dip their toes back into alt coins and meme coins, we’ve decided to reintroduce the Earn Tab, now with a new and improved user interface.

Simply find the Earn Tab in the sidebar.

In the Earn Tab, we offer a selection of curated investment options, helping you stake various tokens to earn an estimted APR with just a few taps. WAGMI, fren.

Improved Onboarding Experience

Onboarding and logging in to our wallet is now faster and smoother than ever!

Stats for data scientists 👩‍🔬 :

  • Login time for unregistered users decreased to 15 seconds from 25 seconds (40% decrease).
  • Login time for registered users decreased to 11 seconds from 20 seconds (45% decrease)

According to our quality assurance team (the poor souls who has to log in and out multiple times every time a new feature is being developed for comprehensive testing), this faster onboarding experience has saved them hours of test time. Since logging in and out is inevitable for every account user, a 45% decrease in the operation time needed is a huge user experience improvement.

“Persistent” contacts that follow you around.

Contacts in KryptoGO Wallet belong to three different categories:

  • synced contacts: KryptoGO accounts registered with phone numbers that matches a phone number in your phone’s contacts.
  • scanned contacts: Contacts you added via scanning a QR code.
  • frequently used addresses: Contacts that are manually added by inputting a name and the wallet addresses.
Three categories of contacts in Chatroom > Contacts

Contacts of all three categories are now “persistent,” meaning that they are associated with the account instead of the current device. If a user logs out of a device and logs back in using a different phone, he should still see all of his contacts from his old device.

Scanned contacts and frequently used addresses are simple to understand. They follow your account, no matter the device. Synced contacts are a little bit more nuanced. To elaborate, wallet’s synced contacts from the old device also follow you to the new device even if the new phone has an entire different set of phone contacts. For instance, say that a user is migrating from phone A to phone B, and each phone has the following phone contacts:

Phone A –

  • Alice
  • Bob
  • Charles

Phone B –

  • Charles
  • David
  • Elizabeth

When the user signs in to KryptoGO Wallet with phone B, he will still see Alice and Bob in Chatroom > Contacts even though Alice and Bob are not contacts that exist on the current phone. After syncing, David and Elizabeth will also be added to the list of synced contacts, and Alice and Bob will remain in the list until the user decides to manually remove them.

Other fixes and improvements

  • KryptoGO’s domain has been whitelisted during signing and transaction risk screening.
  • Fixed an issue there contacts without a display name will show up as blank in said contact’s send modal.
  • Resolved an issue where if a wallet A is already imported via its private key, reimporting another wallet B that shares a seed phrase with wallet A via seed phrase would fail.
