Hey friends. We’re back with another biweekly update, detailing the most important changes that happened in the past couple of weeks. Or should I say, the most important “chain-ges”?

Aside from being a bad pun, it’s also what we’ve been working hard on 🤓

Want a tl;dr video version? Here it is.

Support for New Chains

Wallet > Chain Slider > Arbitrum, or KuCoin Community Chain

In our continuous effort to provide our users the best wallet for the ever-growing crypto landscape and to consolidate more of your on-chain assets, we now support two new chains –– The KuCoin Community Chain (KCC) and Arbitrum (ARB). You can find these chains using the slider in the Wallet Tab, and the DApp browser connects to them automatically as well.

KuCoin Community Chain is a layer-one, EVM compatible blockchain that focuses on performance, while Arbitrum is a layer-two solution that aims to improve Ethereum’s scalability and security using a technology called optimistic rollup. Going into the details here digresses from our main topic, so if you want to learn more about these new chains that we now support, their official websites can be found here and here:

For those who are wondering how we prioritize and choose between the plethora of different chains to implement, we 1) listen to user feedback, and 2) pay attention to events and trends happening in crypto. For instance, Arbitrum is added as part of the Arbitrum Odyssey initiative, the details of which can be found here.

Though temporarily paused, according to the official twitter account, Odyssey is set to resume after Arbitrum implements its Nitro upgrade, and with this update our wallet will be prepped to handle all types of interactions with the chain. Once Odyssey is resumed, we’ll notify users using the in-app notification center, as well as the new banners that can now be found in the Explorer Tab. In the meantime, choose the Odyssey tag in the Explorer Tab to see the relevant links!

Advanced Gas Controls

advanced gas support for Polygon and Binance Chain

We’ve added advanced gas support for Ethereum a few updates ago, and now, that functionality has been extended for Polygon and Binance Chain. Choose how much you want to pay for each transaction, and be the boss of your own gas fees 😎

Update Phone Number

Account > Settings > Security > Update Phone Number

Current users of our wallet already know that KryptoGO Wallet ties user identity and authentication with their phone numbers. This allows for easy registration and vastly simplifies the process of creating a multi-chain crypto wallet for crypto newbies.

However, if you lost access to your old phone number or changed to a new phone number, you had to make a new KryptoGO account. Although you could reimport your wallet using your seed phrase, that requires the oh-so-intimidating process of having memorized a sequence of words like being forced to participate in a primary school spelling test. You’d also lose all your account information, including your preferred settings, and the contacts that you’ve imported or added manually.

In this update, we’ve added the option to update the phone number that is associated with your current account. For security reasons, we require you to have access to your current phone and new phone. Of course, the new number must not already be associated with another KryptoGO account. Once the phone number associated with your account is successfully updated, you can log in like you otherwise would using your new phone number, and you keep all your account information.

As a side note, we have something huge in the works that would revamp how your phone number is linked to your KryptoGO account, which is then in turn, linked to your multi-chain wallet. The goal is to make the account model both more functional and flexible. Being able to change your associated phone number is but a first step to this bigger change, the details of which will be revealed in the months to come!

That’s it for this week! As always, let us know what you think via Discord, or any of our other social media links listed below.

(July 6th, 11:30am update):

Our latest update is not yet live on the Apple App Store because they say our app, quote, “offers cryptocurrency transactions in non-embedded software within the app, which is not appropriate for the App Store.” We’re currently actively communicating with Apple to see how this problem can be resolved and will push these updates as soon as we are able to.
