And so the first Kryptomon World Championship is going without a hitch. I’m joking, of course.
Well, at least it’s been an interesting meeting of minds, what with the happy-go-lucky Kyros and the even happier-go-luckier Dr. Eva Bere proselytizing good sportsmanship and whatnot, being such unsufferably good sports about everything… but now what?
At the very least it looks like dad is manifesting his destiny. As the tournament began, we would see the Amazing Charles Pound disappear and reappear like a curtain trick. But I guess that’s expected from a mogul like him. Come to think of it, all this theatre really began when we found the Kekayaan research on the Eclipse… he must be absolutely intoxicated by these Kryptomon. The way he surrounds himself with them… I’ve never seen him so at home with animals — he’s usually disgusted or at least bored by them. But that’s none of my business.
Word around the company is that I’ve been groomed to replace Charles for quite awhile. Heh, I knew it. Elias Pound, CEO… goddammit, what was I born into?
But this is good for me! Why should I complain? I guess it’s that old fear of the unknown. When a new kingdom is born, no one wants to be the wall-builder. We want to be the conqueror. But this border between Kryptomon and Human… Have we really even seen it yet? Do we ever really understand the territory we claim? The only one around here who seems to know where to go is Dad. Capital D Dad. Father of all Kryptomon.
And Koa… the showstopper himself thought he knew what he was looking for, always staring into the Pink Moonlight, raving mad. He didn’t see the hungry face with licking lips reaching back at him. Lunacy. His Kryptomon Embie has been a Keystone asset for months. We knew it would tempt Koa to walk to the edge, to show us what the Pink Moon really is. And now we know! It was never just love or pity like Eva thought. It’s just another spectacle.
Just as the Moon steals that pale fire of the Sun, the Earth will always try to capture the Moon: to find that distant ember. I’m almost there. Star of the show.
