IOTA accelerator BiiLabs enters into cooperation with Kdan Mobile
- The IOTA Foundation’s long-term partner, BiiLabs, has entered into a cooperation with the Taiwanese software service provider Kdan Mobile to integrate the Distributed Ledger technology into the DottedSign software.
- For this purpose, BiiLabs will use the Alfred API, which uses the IOTA Tangle to store data in a tamper-proof and traceable way.

BiiLabs is a Blockchain-as-a-Service start-up specialized in the development of software solutions based on Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT). The company announced a cooperation with the Taiwanese software service provider Kdan Mobile yesterday. The goal of the partnership is to integrate the DLT into Kdan’s “DottedSign”. BiiLabs, a long-time partner of the IOTA Foundation and member of the Tangle EE Working Group, will be using the IOTA based Alfred API.
Alfred is a software tool for companies to create proof of existence (PoE). Using the API, personal or company internal IoT data can be stored in real time on the IOTA Tangle with time stamps. Depending on the use case, BiiLabs offers its customers a combination of the Alfred API with access to Amazon AWS, hardware (Sentinel Appliance) for recording data and IOTA technology to prove the existence of the data and secure it against manipulation.
Kdan relies on BiiLabs’ Alfred API
Kdan will use this technology to integrate Distributed Ledger Technology into its DottedSign solution, which has over 200 million downloads and 7 million active members worldwide. The solution provides a legally binding e-signature that enables companies and individuals to sign, associate and track documents online to accelerate the signing process and eliminate the need for paper contracts.
This enables a simplified and traceable signature process that ensures the authenticity of the signature. According to BiiLabs, the Alfred API will strengthen Kdan’s technology foundation by leveraging the DLT’s permanently recorded and immutable features to develop the data storage and authentication technologies for its services. This will ensure that audit trails are authentically recorded and verifiable for all parties.

What is the Alfred API?
The Alfred API is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solution that abstracts the complexity of several critical blockchain and distributed components and relies on the IOTA Tangle as the central component to ensure data authenticity. In the current design of the IOTA Tangle with the coordinator, BiiLabs uses an Alfred permanode to store only confirmed transactions. This means that these transactions are approved directly or indirectly through milestone transactions. Each milestone transaction is unique and is signed by the IOTA coordinator.
