Over the 2023–24 academic year, the KU School of Business introduced its Accounting Scholars program to provide high-achieving students with career-focused opportunities and mentorship with alumni in the field.

The two-semester program, designed for accounting majors in their second or third year, allows students who are interested in accounting careers to further explore professional opportunities through experiential learning and networking. Admission into the program is competitive; students must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.5 to be considered. The inaugural 2024 KU Accounting Scholars cohort included 10 students.

The program application launches each fall semester, and accepted students take a one-credit-hour course the following spring semester and a one-credit-hour course the subsequent fall semester. Accepted students receive a scholarship equal to the cost of two credit hours of tuition for the courses, thanks to the sponsorship of KPMG.
