Mission applications have been on the roadmap for awhile, and they are finally beginning to arrive. With this release, we are putting into place much of the framework required to develop mission apps. There are also, yet again, some new hardware integrations for those of you on the lookout for supported hardware. Check out all the changes in the docs and the 1.4 release!

Mission Applications

The initial version of the mission applications service is here, and it’s implications are exciting. It’s purpose is to be manager of all mission applications on the system, both locally for updating/development, and from ground for commanding and controlling satellite behavior. For full understanding of the mission application service, you should read more in our docs!

Also coming in this release are application APIs in both Rust and Python. These are still very basic, but are the start of the toolbox KubOS users will be making use of in their mission application development. They allow mission app developers an easy way to interact with KubOS services and the Linux environment.

Hardware Integrations

We are constantly working to support more hardware, and this release is no exception! We have added a service for the ISIS Antenna System, and updated the Pumpkin MCU API/Service to be compatible with the newest version of Pumpkin’s ICD.
