This article will focus on the entrepreneurship courses that Kathmandu University offers to the student of DoCSE.

Are these courses enough for students? Can they become a successful entrepreneur through these courses alone?

The education system in Nepal primarily focuses on theoretical methods. There is little to no hands-on experience with the subject matter in many educational institutions of Nepal. While it may be sufficient for some subjects, it's pretty safe to assume that it isn’t the case for a lot of other subjects.

Even in the case for the courses related to Entrepreneurship, a vast majority of it is taught in the conventional way. Doing so, limits students from truly experiencing what it means to be an entrepreneur and broaden their skillset.

A subject like entrepreneurship really needs to be primarily taught through hands-on experience and practical applications.

Take Mark Cuban for example. In one of his interviews, he mentioned that once at the age of 12, by the advice of his father, he sold garbage bags in order to collect money for buying new shoes. He credits this experience to be his first lesson on entrepreneurship.

Mark Cuban: American Businessman and Television Personality.

Mark Cuban is an American. We know that a lot of people in foreign countries learn how to sell their products from a very early age.

But stories like these are heard seldomly from Nepalese personalities.

It is because the culture of entrepreneurship in Nepal is quite unsatisfactory. Especially in the tech industry, the culture of entrepreneurship has just recently started to get some amount of traction.

We are quite behind when we compare ourselves to other countries.

But this should not demotivate us. We should realize the vast potential the Nepali market has and work hard to develop it.

So, what can you as a student do?

How can you become a successful entrepreneur?

For that, you need to be on the constant lookout for such opportunities where you can gain hands-on experience and build meaningful products.

One such opportunity is the yearlong Incubation Program that KUEOC, in collaboration with King’s College is offering to students at Kathmandu University. Through this Incubation Program students will be able to build their business idea and successfully launch it to Nepali or even the International Market.

This program is open to students from all faculties of Kathmandu University. So, we encourage you to grab this opportunity and learn the skills required for you to become an entrepreneur and successfully launch your product out in the real world.

Details for this event will be made public very soon.

So going back to main topic, you will not be able to become a successful entrepreneur and successfully launch your business idea into the real through relying on your courses alone.

You need to be open to new opportunities and fully utilize them.

We hope you the best!

Thanks for reading. Cheers!!
