The Mobo Game Jam program is a program I am proud to be involved in. It supports the engagement of young people (8–18 years) with diverse backgrounds in making and creating through designing video games around real-world problems (SDGs) using design thinking process.

Primarily the game jam facilitates the development of digital and soft skills and provides access to career opportunities video games. As the second level of impact, it is awakening an understanding of SDGs and propelling problem-solving skills through responsible games.

This year’s villain is “air pollution”!

Air pollution has caused so much disaster for many years, causing health issues, affecting the climate with toxic elements. It’s been on a rampage causing havoc all around the globe. Nigeria has one of the largest death tolls attributed to air pollution on the continent.

Students are tasked to design a game prototype to eradicate air pollution, raise awareness about Clean Air or teach others how to create a world with healthier air.

Programs like this give students a chance to use their imagination, find their creative expression and learn new skills as they tackle real world issues.

Along the way, they are supported by mentors, trainers and masterclasses from Industry Experts so they can go from zero to hero!

Kucheza runs this program in partnership with Ukie Education’s Digital Schoolhouse and with support from Union Bank’s Edu360 and HP.
